Food Factory Conversion
Sunderland Ridge, Pretoria · 2024

An old warehouse converted into a HACCP-compliant food processing factory.
The brief
A food manufacturer needed a processing plant that meets HACCP food-safety requirements, without the time and cost of building from scratch. The answer was an existing warehouse.
The conversion
The building was stripped back to its steel portal frames. Inside, it was lined with clean, washable wall and ceiling panels, a seamless floor with drainage channels was laid, and the space was planned so that ingredients, people and finished product move through it in a controlled, hygienic way.
The gallery shows the warehouse during strip-out, and the hall as the production lines were installed.
